I have wonderful memories of my time cooking with my parents. My father has a talent for making ordinary activities extraordinary! We would invent a cooking show, or I would play at serving my customers-stuffed animals-dolls fresh smarties cookies, like at my favorite bakery! Even today, the little girl in me takes immense pleasure in removing the baked cookies from the baking sheet to place them on the rack, I imagine myself as a pastry chef every time.

Smarties Cookies

Ingredients
- 1 cup flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup softened butter or margarine
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- An egg
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tbsp milk
- 1 cup quick-cooking oats
- Two packages of Smarties (about 1/2 cup)
Instructions
- Préchauffer le four à 350 degrés Fahrenheit, placer la grille au tiers supérieur du four.
- Hacher une ou deux cuillères à table de Smarties pour garnir, réserver.
- Dans un bol, mélanger la farine, la poudre à pâte, le bicarbonate de soude et le sel.
- Dans un autre bol, battre le beurre, la cassonade et le sucre, ajouter ensuite l’oeuf et l’extrait de vanille.
- Incorporer les ingrédients secs et ajouter le lait.
- Incorporer délicatement l’avoine et les Smarties.
- Déposer les biscuits sur une plaque tapissée de papier parchemin, garnir de Smarties hachées. Espacer-les suffisamment, je fais cuire 6 à 8 biscuits à la fois.
- Cuire au four entre 7 à 10 minutes, retirer dès que le tour commence à dorer, le centre sera encore un peu mou, laisser les biscuits refroidir quelques minutes sur la plaque, ils continueront à cuire quelque peu. Laisser refroidir complètement sur une grille ensuite.
